Farmers Market: The southeast corner of South Gate Park is home to this weekly Certified Farmers Market. Every Monday from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., at the intersection of Tweedy Blvd. and Pinehurst Ave.
Park: Encompassing nine acres, Cesar Chavez Park features two playgrounds and a pergola. For picnics, no reservations are required.
Center: All individuals who wish to maintain their youthful spirit can participate in a range of activities at the Margaret Travis Senior Center. Everything from crafts to exercise classes to fantastic trips at reasonable prices.
Library: Leland R. Weaver Library The city of South Gate was incorporated in 1923 with a population of about 2,500 residents. The first South Gate Library was opened that same year in a back room of City Hall. Starting in 1931, the County of Los Angeles Free Library began providing library service to local residents.
